New Bishop Announced
On Monday, it was announced that Canon Paul Swarbrick has been chosen by Pope Francis to be the next (seventh) Bishop of Lancaster.  Canon Paul is a priest of the diocese and is currently parish priest in Workington. Bishop Campbell ceased to be Bishop of Lancaster with the announcement but, until Canon Paul is ordained on Monday 9th April at Lancaster Cathedral, he remains as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese. We have six tickets allocated to the parish for anyone wishing to attend the ordination.  If you would like to go, please submit your name to Fr Michael.  If more than six are interested, names will be ‘drawn out of a hat’.

24 Hours with the Lord
On Friday 16th March we will have a 24 hour continuous period of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Margaret Mary with opportunities throughout the day for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. As in previous years, this adoration will involve ‘watching’ during the night.  Please sign up on the forms in both churches to ensure the viability of this devotion in the parish.

First Holy Communion
Catechesis on Thursday evenings at 6.00 pm at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School.

Stations of the Cross & Soup Lunches
During Lent, Stations of the Cross will be celebrated at 11.00 am on Tuesdays at St. Margaret Mary and at 12.00 noon on Fridays at Christ the King.  Both will be followed by a soup lunch in aid of Mary’s Meals.

Festival Choir
The Festival Choir will begin preparing for Holy Week and Easter on Sunday 11th February.  We will be meeting each Sunday at 7.00 pm in Christ The King Church. We would welcome more people to join us. If you would like to give it a try, please come along to one of our rehearsals. Young people from Year 6 onwards are especially welcome.

Eucharistic Congress
On the weekend of 7th-9th September, there is a national Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool to deepen our appreciation and love of the gift of Christ in the Eucharist. There will be a parish pilgrimage to the Congress on Saturday 8th September, where the key-note speaker is Bishop Robert Barron. To sign up for this [the cost will be £50], please use the sheets provided.  More details will be available nearer the time but we need to confirm numbers for tickets.

SVP Food Parcels
Once again, we will be distributing food parcels to local families in need before Easter. We hope to deliver parcels during the week beginning Monday 19th March. Tinned meat and tinned fruit are especially welcome. Thank you for your continued support. Items may be placed in the food box at the back of St. Margaret Mary Church.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham
The new Bishop will be leading a pilgrimage to the national shrine of Our Lady, Walsingham, Norfolk from Thursday 25 September – Friday 28 September. More details from the organiser, Paul Briers: guildshop@yahoo.co.uk or 01946-834834.

Retiring Collection
It is the custom of the diocese to present the retiring bishop with a gift on his retirement - each parish is invited to contribute to this gift.  There will be a voluntary retiring collection after Mass next weekend for this purpose.

Fr Michael’s Mum
Thank you for your prayers and concern for my mother - many of you ask each week about how she is and this is greatly appreciated.  She has had a set back recently with her treatment for the type of cancer she has, but her doctors are optimistic that new medication will help her get back on track - keep her in your prayers, especially through the intercession of St. Josemaria and the servant of God, Sr Lucia of Fatima.

SVP Christ the King
The SVP would like to thank parishioners for the donation of £67.09 from the Crib Collection  at Christ the King.

Holy Week & Easter Mass Times
As is the custom in the parish, there will be one Mass on Palm Sunday morning - this year at St. Margaret Mary - beginning at 10.30 am.  The clocks go forward that weekend!
The Triduum this year will be held at Christ the King.  The Mass on Holy Thursday will be at 7.00 pm.  On Good Friday, the afternoon liturgy will be at 3.00 pm.  The Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday will begin at 8.00 pm [sunset being 7.46 pm].

Easter Sunday Masses will be as a normal Sunday with the additional Latin Mass in the evening.
