Newsletter Items: 11th March 2018

24 Hours with the Lord
On Friday 16th March, we will have a 24 hour continuous period of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Margaret Mary with opportunities throughout the day for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. As in previous years, this adoration will involve ‘watching’ during the night.  Please sign up on the forms in both churches to ensure the viability of this devotion in the parish - names are needed for Friday evening.
From 7.00 pm access to the church will be through the South Side Door [to right of the church].  Tea and Coffee making facilities will be available through the night.

The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary
It is with sadness that I have to inform parishioners that after more than a century of being present in Carlisle, the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary have announced that they are to withdraw from Carlisle. Shortly after Easter, our dear Sr. Gerald will be moving to establish a new house in Knock - in her beloved Ireland.  It is a shock for the parish and she will be dearly missed by all of us. We are arranging a Mass of Thanksgiving at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 3rd April at Christ the King followed by a reception in Harraby Catholic Club.  This will be our farewell to Sr Gerald so please make a special effort to come along.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Stations of the Cross & Soup Lunches
During Lent, Stations of the Cross will usually be celebrated at 11.00 am on Tuesdays at St. Margaret Mary and at 12.00 noon on Friday at Christ the King.  Both will be followed by a soup lunch in aid of Mary’s Meals. This week, due to 24 hours for the Lord, the Friday Stations will be at St. Margaret Mary.
