Companion Dog Show & Fun Day
To be held at 2.00 pm on the 20th May at St. Margaret Mary. We are looking for volunteers to help on the day. Please see Maria, Elisabeth, Alison or Liz. Donations of soft toys, groceries, bric a brac and doggie things! will all be gratefully received.

Carlisle Food Bank
The Food Bank organisers send their thanks for our recent donations. Items in short supply are UHT milk, tinned rice pudding, tinned fruit and vegetables, and tinned meals. Please leave your donations in the basket in the porch at Christ the King.

Attendance 219. Offertory contribution £667.82.  Many thanks for your generosity.

Eucharistic Congress
On the weekend of 7th-9th September, there is a national Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool to deepen our appreciation and love of the gift of Christ in the Eucharist. There will be a parish pilgrimage to the Congress on Saturday 8th September, where the key-note speaker is Bishop Robert Barron. To sign up for this [the cost will be £50] - please complete a booking form, which will be available this weekend, and return asap.

Events at Castlerigg Manor
The Family Weekend (25-27 May) is an opportunity for families to come together for the weekend. There will be activities for all age groups and the opportunity to meet old friends and get to know new ones. Open to all families.

Sponsored Walk - a new venture to raise the funds to support our work. We are looking to recruit a small group for a challenging 15 mile walk in the Lake District, on Monday 28 May, with a target to raise £1,000 each. If you or a parishioner would be enthusiastic to take part, please get in touch; if people aren’t able to join us walking, they can still support us through collecting sponsorship and we’d be grateful for your support in any way.  Bishop Paul is taking part for all 15 miles, 6,300 ft of climbing and twelve fells. Castlerigg Manor Opportunities
We are looking for committed young Catholics to join our team as new Retreat Leaders or gap year volunteers, to start this summer. If you are interested, you will find more information on our website: and you can download the posters here.

Sr Gerald had a great way of finding out when people needed a pastoral visit from the parish priest or when they were in hospital. If you know someone in either of these positions, please notify Fr Michael as soon as possible either by phone, via email or in person after Mass.

Talk on the Martyrs of Cumbria
Chris Robson, a worker for Aid to the Church in  Need, is coming to the parish on Wednesday 23rd May to deliver a talk on the ‘Martyrs of Cumbria’.  The talk will be held at 7.30 pm in the Parish Centre.  All welcome!

Piano Recital at Lancaster University Chapel
To be held on Wednesday 16th May 2018 at 7.00 pm.  Liszt's Via Crucis. The pianist is Alesandra Pompili, an internationally-acclaimed pianist, who is giving the concert on behalf of Aid to the Church in Need. There will be refreshments and free car parking available in the evenings around the Chaplaincy Centre.

Readers Needed
Parishioners who are willing and able to proclaim the Word of God at Masses - please see Fr Michael.  We particularly need readers on Saturday evenings.

Picnic in Aid of Carlisle Food Bank and Carlisle Key
Staff of the Combined Court, Carlisle, are hosting a picnic, on Thursday 28 June, at 6.30 pm, in the grounds of St Cuthbert’s church (inside if wet). Music provided by the Border Concert Band and the Cartmell Shepherd Choir. 
A fundraiser for Carlisle Food Bank, providing food for people in a crisis, and for Carlisle Key, helping young people move to independent living. 
Three-course picnic: £30 for two, including soft drink, tea or coffee. Alcohol will be available for purchase. All the food is being donated by local businesses. Bring your own rug.

School Gala - Celebrating 80 years of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School
To be held on Sunday 8th July from 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm.  If you, or you know of any business that would like to donate raffle prizes, then please get in touch with the school. The day will include: an exhibition of photos of 80 years of the school; a short screening of a documentary about the school; bouncy castle; stalls and much much more. Stalls are available for hire at £10.00.

Race for Life Coffee Morning

Parishioners are invited to our school’s Race for Life coffee morning on Friday 25th May at 9.00 am.
