Month of the Holy Souls
November will soon be upon us. There will be a novena of Masses for the Holy Souls during the month of November. If you would like to include family members in this novena, please write their names on a piece of paper and place in the envelopes provided in both churches. It is a custom to include an offering with your intentions.
The Sacrament of Confirmation
Bishop Paul Swarbrick will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for the parish during the 11.00 am Mass on the Feast of Christ the King [25th November]. Catechesis takes place fortnightly on Sunday evenings [6.00 pm to 7.00 pm]. Parents of youngsters aged 10 or above who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation should email names to Fr Michael [email@example.com]. It is not too late to come along…
Newman Chapel Fund
We have been asked, as a parish, to contribute £9,000 towards the expected £75,000 build cost for a new chapel within the new Newman School. If you would like to make a donation towards the building cost this can be made via cheque [‘Newman Chapel Fund’] or in cash. Please enclose in an envelope marked ‘Newman Chapel Fund’. Holy Mass will be offered regularly at Newman School for the intention of benefactors. The total now stands at £9,210. If you would still like to make a donation, please feel free to do so.

Christmas with a Difference
Can you make some room for an international student to learn what true British Festive hospitality can mean? Should you like to add that international element to your Christmas, learning another country’s traditions and enjoying the connection and friendship that such sharing brings?
HOST UK arranges for international students to enjoy brief home-stays with UK hosts, one day, a weekend or, over the festive period-a three day visit. We need more hosts so that a smile such as Marine’s can spread across many more faces…and across our fragile world. If you should like to know more, go to our website www.hostuk.org or leave us a message on http://visits.hostuk.org/Public/ApplyToBecomeAHost

First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion will be celebrated in the Parish on Sunday 28th April 2019 [the Second Sunday of Easter]. Catechesis for candidates will begin on Thursday 17th January 2019. Application forms are available in both churches for parents who would like their child to make their First Holy Communion next year.
It is an essential aspect that children are brought regularly to Holy Mass each weekend and it is very sad that so few families have not continued to bring their children to Holy Mass after First Holy Communion this past year. Pray for them regularly please.

St Margaret Mary SVP
Once again we will be sending out food parcels before Christmas to local families in need. Tinned meat and fish and toiletries are especially welcome. Please check dates on tinned goods. We aim to deliver goods during the week beginning 10th December. Thank you once again for your continued support.
The 11.00 am Mass on Remembrance Sunday [11th November] will be a Requiem Mass for the Fallen of the Two World Wars [and subsequent conflicts]. This year marks the centenary of the end of the First World War and we pray especially for those parishioners who were killed in that brutal war. May they rest in peace.
What, No Confessional!
St Margaret Mary has been, for some time, without a permanent, dignified, place for the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Fr Michael will be consulting parishioners over the coming weeks to find a suitable site within the church. Sound proofing is a priority. One suggestion has been to utilise the old baptistry, currently used as a shrine to St. Margaret Mary and to relocate the statue of St. Margaret Mary [kindly provided by Fr Tom Quirke] to a more prominent place near the Sacred Heart Altar. What are your views?
