Pilgrimage to Rome 2020
Plans are beginning to be put in place for a Parish Pilgrimage [possibly jointly with the Good Shepherd Parish, Workington] to Rome from 11th to 18th May 2020.  Flights would be from Newcastle Airport, hotel within walking distance of St. Peter’s Basilica, Papal Audience on the Wednesday, Mass at the Venerable English College on the Sunday.  It is hoped to also include a day trip to Montecassino Abbey on the Thursday.  More details will be available shortly.

Parish Mission Team
From September, we will be launching a number of new initiatives in the parish based on the Divine Renovation movement. Fr Michael will host a preliminary meeting to which parishioners are invited after Mass on Tuesday 4th June [around 7.30 pm]. This meeting will be to form a core group for a ‘Parish Mission Team’.  Please think about getting involved.

Young People’s Seminar — An Invitation
Being a young Catholic today is the theme of a seminar being held from 16-19 July at Hinsley Hall, Leeds, to which our young parishioners aged 16-23 are invited. The Apostleship of Prayer
The Apostleship of Prayer, The Holy Father’s prayer intentions for each month, has taken a new name: The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. We are invited to include these intentions in our own personal prayers, as well as in the prayers of the faithful at Mass. First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion will be celebrated in the Parish this weekend during the 11.00 am Mass at St. Margaret Mary. Please pray for the children and their families as they approach this special day. We are very grateful and appreciate the hard work and commitment of the catechetical team who have prepared the children for their special day.

Missio ‘Red Box’ Appeal
On the weekend of 4th/5th May, Fr Frank Downs MHM will visit the parish on behalf of Missio. This is the five-yearly Red Box Appeal.  Through the Red Box, we care for our Church family around the world. Thank you to all parishioners who already give to the Pope’s official charity for overseas mission - Missio - and Britain’s own missionary order, the Mill Hill Missionaries, through the Red Box.

March for Life 
Saturday 11th May 2019 
The day starts at 9.30 am – 1.30 pm with an indoor festival LifeFest19. For more information, please follow the link: https://www.marchforlife.co.uk. Over recent months there has been growing concern over the increasing incidents of knife crime. Surely, in a sense the innocent babies aborted are in some way also victims of a form of ‘knife crime’. 

Annual Leave

Songs of Praise
You are warmly invited to a special Songs of Praise musical recording of hymns and songs at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Carlisle this May.  All are welcome and we are especially keen for enthusiastic singers to join us and lead the viewers at home in the singing. Holy Week and Triduum
Thank you to all who helped with the celebration of the Triduum this year, especially the Festive Choir and musicians, servers, readers and last, but no means least, the sacristans.
Thanks also to all who have led the Stations of the Cross during Lent and been involved in preparing the Lent Lunches.

Mary’s Meals
Thanks to all who attended the Lent lunches at St. Margaret Mary this year. A total of £220 was raised for Mary’s Meals by this initiative. Christ the King figures will be revealed when they’re available.

Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7.00 pm at St. Margaret Mary, followed by watching at the Altar of Repose until 10.00 pm, concluding with Compline [Night Prayer]

19th April - Good Friday
Office of Readings and Morning Prayer at 10.00 am at St. Margaret Mary. Solemn Commemoration of Our Lord’s Passion and Death at 3.00 pm at St. Margaret Mary.

20th April - Holy Saturday
Office of Readings and Morning Prayer at 10.00 am at St. Margaret Mary. 12.00 noon Blessing of Easter Food at St. Margaret Mary.  8.00 pm The Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter at St. Margaret Mary. There will be a reception afterwards in the Parish Centre.

21st April - Easter Sunday
Masses as normal - 9.00 am Christ the King and 11.00 am St. Margaret Mary.

For Holy Week we have scheduled a release of Bishop Barron’s Stations of the Cross on the Wednesday and then we will release on Easter Sunday the acclamation of Easter. The Stations are quite long - 50+ minutes but they are beautifully done. You might want to take time watching and engaging in them over the days of the Triduum.

Festival Choir
The festival choir meets to prepare for celebrating Easter on Sunday evenings at 7.00 pm. The Triduum will be celebrated at St Margaret Mary this year, so rehearsals will be there. Please consider joining us, everyone is welcome, especially the young and young at heart!

St. Margaret Mary School Passion Play
On the evening of Spy Wednesday [the Wednesday of Holy Week - 17th April], pupils from St. Margaret Mary will perform a Passion Play at St. Margaret Mary Church. Please come along!

Anti Social Behaviour
We have experienced a group of boys coming onto the site at St. Margaret Mary and causing a nuisance in recent weeks. The Police have advised that the site be locked from dusk [or after no one is on the site] ’til dawn.  This will be put into place as soon as possible.  Please note that this will make the car park unusable overnight.  
If you are aware of any incidents while using the church at St. Margaret Mary, please dial ‘101’ and report the incident to Police immediately.  If we don’t nip this in the bud, it could escalate over the summer.
You are within your rights to use your mobile phone to capture images and video in order to enable the Police to identify individuals.

The script has been written specially for the people of Carlisle by John Davies, Classic Theatre Cumbria’s Artistic Director and actor. It will be performed on stage in front of the Old Town Hall on Saturday 13 April at 11.00 am & 2.00 pm. It will last about 75 minutes and is suitable for all ages. Free seating is available. The Play will be followed up by various activities by Churches Together during Holy Week: Monday 15 to Friday 19 April in the Old Town Hall Square.

Gift Aid - Making Your Donation Go Further
Envelopes for the next financial year will be available shortly for those parishioners who are members of the scheme. Standing Order donors do not need to take any further action unless they wish to increase their contribution.

If a parishioner, who is a taxpayer, would like to join the scheme, please contact Judith on 526781 for CTK or Richard on 544737 for StMM. If you have ceased paying tax or changed address and are part of the scheme, please notify the organisers. Please consider giving via the Gift Aid scheme - it increases your donation without any additional cost to you.
