Deanery Schools Celebration for Corpus Christi
On Thursday 20th June at 1.15 pm, deanery schools will come together to celebrate their ‘Year of the Eucharist’ with a Mass and Eucharistic Procession on the traditional day of Corpus Christi [the Thursday after Trinity Sunday]. Parishioners are welcome to join them in this celebration.

Pilgrimage to Rome 2020
The parish is organising a pilgrimage to Rome  from 11th - 18th May 2020.  Flights will be from Newcastle Airport with accommodation on a half-board basis at the Hotel Olympic, a short distance from St. Peter’s Basilica. Features include daily Mass, Papal Audience, two half day tours of Rome, a day excursion to Monte Cassino and Sunday Mass at the Venerable English College. Free days to explore Rome are also a feature of this pilgrimage. The price is estimated at £815 per person [may reduce if more than 40 travel].  Single room supplement £159.  If you think you would like to join the pilgrimage, please email sacredheartcarlisle@icloud.com or speak to Fr Michael as soon as possible.

Parish Patronal Feast
This will be celebrated on Friday 28th June with Mass at 7.00 pm followed by a reception in the Parish Centre.  Please make a note of the date and time in your diary and make an effort to come along.

Parish Mission Team
From September, we will be launching a number of new initiatives in the parish based on the Divine Renovation movement.  Fr Michael will host a preliminary meeting to which parishioners are invited after Mass on Tuesday 4th June [around 7.30 pm]. This meeting will be to form a core group for a ‘Parish Mission Team’.  Please think about getting involved.

SVP Food Parcels
Before the start of the school summer holidays, St Margaret Mary SVP will be delivering food parcels to local families in need of our support. We aim to deliver the parcels the week beginning 8th July. Tinned meats and fruit are especially welcome. Please check 'best before' dates. Once again, thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Food items most needed: tins of meat (mince, hotdogs, casseroles and stews, ham, corned beef), tins of fish, tins of fruit, tins of rice pudding, packets of custard, dried potato, dried pasta or rice meals, multipack cereals, UHT milk, biscuits, dried packets of sauce mix.

Figures for Last Weekend
Attendance last weekend: 54 + 66 + 78 = 198.
Offertory £510.80 + £249 = £759.80. Thank you for your generosity.

New Horizons

ACN Area Secretaries for the Diocese of Lancaster (North and South)
Aid to the Church in Need is looking to hire two part-time Area Secretaries to give parish appeals in our diocese. If you are a confident public speaker with a driving license and interested in helping suffering and persecuted Christians around the world, this could be the post for you! Fifty Years at Castlerigg — Youth Service Anniversary 
The team at our Diocesan Residential Centre - Castlerigg Manor, Keswick, hopes to produce a book ‘Memories of Castlerigg’ to mark the half-century. The Apostleship of Prayer
The Apostleship of Prayer, The Holy Father’s prayer intentions for each month, has taken a new name: The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. We are invited to include these intentions in our own personal prayers, as well as in the prayers of the faithful at Mass. Praying for these intentions helps us to look outside ourselves and our local community, to the world around us, as we become apostolic and truly missionary disciples of the Lord.

Young People’s Seminar — An Invitation 
Being a young Catholic today is the theme of a seminar to be held from 16-19 July at Hinsley Hall, Leeds, to which our young parishioners aged 16-23 are invited. All expenses will be met by the Knights of St Columba. For full details and an application form, please contact Michael March on 07742 099907. 

Levy to the Diocese

The annual levy to the Diocese this year has been set at £12,294.72 - 23.5% of Offertory Income and 17% of Rental Income based on the previous year figures. We pay this in ten monthly instalments throughout the year.  The other levy we pay is to the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales.

Pilgrimage to Rome 2020
Plans are beginning to be put in place for a Parish Pilgrimage [possibly jointly with the Good Shepherd Parish, Workington] to Rome from 11th to 18th May 2020.  Flights would be from Newcastle Airport, hotel within walking distance of St. Peter’s Basilica, Papal Audience on the Wednesday, Mass at the Venerable English College on the Sunday.  It is hoped to also include a day trip to Montecassino Abbey on the Thursday.  More details will be available shortly.

Diocese of Lancaster Lourdes Pilgrimage
The dates for the pilgrimage are 26 July – 2 August 2019 and the pastoral theme this year is “Blessed are the poor, for the Kingdom of God is theirs”. Please consider coming! We need all pilgrims, especially nurses, carers, brancardier (Male carers) & young people. It is through the support of these volunteer groups that we can take sick pilgrims from our diocese. Do you know of a sick person who would benefit from a week away? Flights are from Manchester Airport.
