Rededication of England as the Dowry of Mary

On Sunday March 29th, the Bishops of England, led by Cardinal Nichols, will rededicate England as the Dowry of Mary. This is a significant event for our country and we are asked to prepare well for this event, particular by praying the Angelus each day at 12.00 noon. Our parish will celebrate an evening Novena to Our Lady in the form of Eucharistic Adoration, sermon and recitation of the Holy Rosary from Friday 20th March until Sunday 29th March. The Solemnity of the Annunciation will be celebrated with particular dignity on the evening of Wednesday 25th March to enable as many parishioners to attend as possible.
As part of the preparations, the Dowry Tour is coming to our Cathedral in Lancaster.  Copies of the timetable for this visit are available.  The talk by Monsignor Armitage on Thursday evening is particularly important - he is a talented communicator.  A coach has been booked, organised by Jo Muter, to visit the Dowry Tour in Lancaster on Saturday 8th February.  It will leave Warwick Square at 9.15 am.  If you are interested and wish to book a seat [cost £10, bring a packed lunch], please contact Jo on 01228 524087. The coach will leave Lancaster at 2.30 pm.

Annual Missals
A limited number of the 2020 Missals, which cover this liturgical year, are available to purchase for £7.50 - please see Fr Michael.  A few 3-year Missals are still available at the price of £17.50.

Figures for Last Sunday
At Mass 95 + 93 = 188.  Thank you for your contribution of £435.10 + £256.13 = £691.23.

Hospital
Just a reminder that the Catholic Chaplaincy Team at the Cumberland Infirmary do not receive official notification of the presence of Catholic patients.  Families must let Fr Frank at Warwick Square [521509] know if someone is in hospital and in need of a visit. Holy Communion is taken regularly to patients who are known to the Chaplaincy team.

First Holy Communion 2020
Application forms are now available to enrol children in the First Holy Communion programme.  The first of eleven sessions will be held on 16th January at 6.00 pm at St. Margaret Mary School - parents are expected to attend this first session. Attendance at Sunday Mass is also an expectation of preparing for First Holy Communion, which will be celebrated in the parish on Sunday 19th April - the Second Sunday of Easter.

Floor Renovations at St. Margaret Mary
The work on the floor at St. Margaret Mary is now complete and the new carpet has been fitted - it is of good quality and should last for many years. The floor renovation [the first in 57 years] has cost £4,288 or around £15 per square metre.  The carpet costs are yet to be received.  If you would like to make a donation towards these costs - perhaps by sponsoring a square metre [or two] - please make a donation in an envelope marked ‘New Floor’.
