Rededication of England as the Dowry of Mary
On Sunday 29th March, the Bishops of England, led by Cardinal Nichols, will rededicate England as the Dowry of Mary. This is a significant event for our country and we are asked to prepare well for this event, particularly by praying the Angelus each day at 12.00 noon. Our parish will celebrate an evening Novena to Our Lady in the form of Eucharistic Adoration, sermon and recitation of the Holy Rosary from Friday 20th March until Sunday 29th March. The Solemnity of the Annunciation will be celebrated with particular dignity on the evening of Wednesday 25th March to enable as many parishioners to attend as possible.
As part of the preparations, the Dowry Tour is coming to our Cathedral in Lancaster.  Copies of the timetable for this visit are available.  The talk by Monsignor Armitage on Thursday evening is particularly important - he is a talented communicator.  A coach has been booked, organised by Jo Muter, to visit the Dowry Tour in Lancaster on Saturday 8th February.  It will leave Warwick Square at 9.15 am.  If you are interested and wish to book a seat [cost £10, bring a packed lunch], please contact Jo on 01228 524087. The coach will leave Lancaster at 2.30 pm.

Parish Pastoral Council
Fr Michael would like to call together a meeting on the Parish Pastoral Council on Monday 3rd February at 7.15 pm in the Parish Centre.

Candlemas falls on a Sunday this year [2nd February] and celebrates the presentation of the child Jesus in the temple.  It is 40 days after Christmas day. Parishioners are encouraged to bring any candles they wish to be blessed.  The 11.00 am Mass will begin in the Parish Centre and then there will be a candlelit procession into the church.  All this, of course, is weather permitting.

Annual Missals
A limited number of the 2020 Missals, which cover this liturgical year, are available to purchase for £7.50 - please see Fr Michael.  A few 3-year Missals are still available at the price of £17.50.

Figures for Last Sunday
At Mass 100 + 122 = 222.  Thank you for your contribution of £358.12 + £311.40 = £669.52.

Just a reminder that the Catholic Chaplaincy Team at the Cumberland Infirmary do not receive official notification of the presence of Catholic patients.  Families must let Fr Frank at Warwick Square [521509] know if someone is in hospital and in need of a visit. Holy Communion is taken regularly to patients who are known to the Chaplaincy team.

First Holy Communion 2020
Sessions for the children continues this Thursday.   Attendance at Sunday Mass is also an expectation of preparing for First Holy Communion which will be celebrated in the parish on Sunday 19th April - the Second Sunday of Easter.
